Bob Weir And Phil Lesh Will Reunite At LOCKN' Festival March 30, 2017 20:26
As reported by Rolling Stone earlier on Thursday afternoon, Bob Weir will join Phil Lesh for a performance of the Grateful Dead's 1977 classic Terrapin Station at the 2017 LOCKN' Festival. The annual event will take place at Oak Ridge Farm in Arrington, Virginia August 24th through 27th. Lesh was already set to return to LOCKN' for the fifth year in a row, planning performances with both Phil Lesh and Friends and the Terrapin Family Band. The latter group – the official house band at Lesh's Terrapin Crossroads venue in San Rafael, California – was set to celebrate the 40th anniversary of Terrapin Station, though Weir wasn't initially slated to join.
The performance will come as part of Lesh and The Terrapin Family Band’s continuing celebration of the 40th anniversary of the Grateful Dead’s landmark year in 1977, which included the release of Terrapin Station. Weir, Lesh and TFB also recently played a bar show together at Lesh’s Terrapin Crossroads. Weir joins other LOCKN’ additions from this week, The Disco Biscuits, John Fogerty, Antibalas, Blackberry Smoke, Dirty Dozen Brass Band, Hiss Golden Messenger, Moonalice, The Record Company, and Sinkane. This year’s lineup also features Widespread Panic, The String Cheese Incident, The Avett Brothers, Umphrey’s McGee, moe., Joe Russo’s Almost Dead, Gov’t Mule, Greensky Bluegrass, TAUK, The Revivalists and many more.
